A few tests

I know this blog is originally just to document the training and fundraising for Vietnam, but I’ve decided to broaden it to include the medical journey, because it’s an ongoing process.

About three weeks ago, I went and saw a haemotologist, to make sure that I don’t have any strange clotting tendencies, and the stroke really was because of the reasons we originally thought: high blood pressure, lumbar drain, use of the Pill, and surgery. The tests needed twenty tubes of blood, and this was all taken with one needle. I was very impressed!

I just received the bill for those tests: $501.60. I am slightly less impressed.

And to add to the financial misery of today, I had a driving assessment at a rehabilitation centre today, which cost $335. I haven’t been let loose on the roads yet, and will need two more lessons which will cost another $130.

Everyone, you should do whatever you can to avoid stroke and medical dramas, because they are expensive! Prevention is much better than everything that happens after.
