Yesterday, I was going to try not taking hydrocortisone. I lasted until lunchtime, and thought, “You know, some cortisol would be pretty good right now”. So took 2mg at lunch yesterday, and this morning I took 2mg at breakfast. I don’t think I’m ready to let go just yet. I’ll try again next weekend.
In other news, yesterday was also a mini-fundraiser that wasn’t organised by me. My friend Brad had offered to turn one of his wine and cheese evenings into a fundraiser for me. Thank you, Brad! A small group of our friends went to Brad’s last night, for food and drinking and games. I cooked a kangaroo stirfry, one of the guys who came brought an amazing fruit flan, I made chocolate chunk and pumpkin seed biscuits, and we played Pictionary.
The name of the evening was Quote for Stroke, and guests had to bring quotes that were inspirational or entertaining, and we shared them around the dinner table. These quotes were my contribution:
One way to get the most out of life is to look upon it as an adventure.
William FeatherThe best way out is always through.
Robert FrostOur greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall.
ConfuciusNothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
It was a lovely night, and I am now slightly freaking out about the Stroke of Genius trivia night tomorrow. You wouldn’t think that raising money would be this hard. I only need 650 people to give me ten bucks!
