Situation: normal

In 2010, before I left for the UK, I saw my gynaecologist for a pap smear. He told me that he wouldn’t ring me about the results unless there was something wrong. I left his office and mostly forgot about the appointment. And then I receive a phone call from him and think, “Ah, shit. What now?” He told me that my results showed abnormal cells, and told me to go back in one year for another test to see if it’s been resolved or if further action would be required.

So in 2011, for the first time in a few years, my main reason for going home was not to see my endocrinologist, but to see my gyno. I saw them both in December last year – cortisol levels are completely, totally, wonderfully normal, and I would have to wait for results from my gyno. He emailed me a couple of days to say that everything is normal. Hooray!

‘Normal’ is such a beautiful word.

  1. Can’t agree more! All I’m hoping for is a dull and NORMAL 2012
